Professor (Almoallem) Geryes
Zouein 1830-1893
. . . He was a MULTILINGUAL
writer, philosopher,
translator , lecturer,
theologian and journalist.
He learned and wrote in
Arabic, syriac, Latin,
French, Italian, Hebrew, and
the Hellenism (Greek).
He wrote or translated over
15 theological books.
He headed the Syrian
scientific society and he
was the society official
speaker.
He headed the correspondence
and translation section at
Mount Lebanon administration
in BAABDA. to deal with the
consuls of the custodial
countries of Mount Lebanon
(Turkey, Russia, Germany,
France, Italy, Britain and
Austria.) This position
brought to him success in
politics, then in
journalism. He become the
editor in chief of the
newspaper "ALBASHEER). He
wrote also in many well
known newspapers, such as
the "Lissan ElHal", "AlMissbah",
and "Lubnan". He also become
the first editor of the
"Vatican Assembler"
magazine.
This a very brief summary of
the great man Geryes Zouein.
